October 28 - Flu bug?
Got really, really sick over the weekend. Flu bug or food poisoning combined with exhaustion does it every time. In any case, I wasn't able to finish getting ready for the GL fundraiser. But my staff Sarah, Nona and Erica did such a terrific job, taking care of everything. Ayako and everyone else helped to set up. The fundraiser and auction was a big success and we made over $6000! Now I gotta prep for the Manzanar fundraiser this weekend and get back to 100%. I read a great book over the weekend, 21st Century Manzanar. I wrote a column about it and the fundraiser and will upload pix soon. Darin & Sao's baby is due any day now.

What a busy week. I worked 56 hours in 5 days, something I haven't done in a long long time. These two fundraisers over the next 2 weeks keepin' me hoppin'. I'm doing yoga every other day. Trying not to lose momentum. Carpooled with Tony twice this week to his work, then took the bus to work. Monica had her baby Friday, a boy named Dyami! Went to Victorville last night for Tony's mom's birthday dinner. Hector got two cute little puppies. We took some pictures today with the new digital camera Tony.

October 14 - WHS 20 Year Reunion
On Saturday night, Maria & I went to our 20th Reunion from Westlake High School. Although we were pretty ambivalent about the whole thing, we went anyways. Tony was encouraging me to go as a full circle kind of thing. We actually had a lot of fun! I don't have many memories of high school, because I didn't have a lot of friends and didn't know many of the people in my class. But I do have strong memories of Westlake Hills Elem School where I went for 1-1/2 years, and Colina where I spent those awkward 7th-8th grade years. So it was terrific to see people like Cynthia Graham, who was one of my best friends, and others like Kris Lee, Theresa Fullmer, Jill Hibbitt, who I have known since 1975! It was also great to see people like Laura Shubin, Roberta Martin, Stacey Elliott, and others I knew from Mrs. Gorner's ELC class at Colina. I don't remember what it stands for, but ELC was a two year class, and we did a lot of class projects like the Haymarket Riot Trial, and went on some field trips. Anyways, I guess this was part of Tony's idea about coming full circle.

October 7 - Get Away Fishing Weekend

Tony, his dad Larry and I went to Mammoth for the weekend. After being with Tony for 7 years, I finally got to go to Green Creek, where his family has been fishing for over 50 years. It was about an hour from Mammoth, near Bridgeport. We stayed at the Woodlands 53, the condo that my parents have just sold after 20 years. Since I haven't gone to the condo much the last few years, it was a chance to say goodbye to the old condo where I went on so many ski trips over the last two decades. I think it will be a little sad to go to Mammoth in the future and not stay at our condo. Anyways, the next day, we went to Convict Lake for a few hours, before heading home. On the way home, we stopped at Schat's Bakery in Bishop for some chili cheese bread. YUM.
